Awrudu memories
In Sri Lanka we have this special event called Sinhala and Tamil New Year . It’s based on the sun moving from Pisces to Aries , so people consider it like the end of the year. It’s actually the main event for Sinhalese people.
During this time, all relatives gather , there are parties, different rituals, gift sharing , and of course… LOTS of sweets (like seriously, diabetes season 😂). So yeah, New Year is super fun for everyone, especially kids .
But… not everything is fun 😅 sometimes there are missions.
So yesterday I went to grind rice flour at one of those grinding shops (still don’t know the proper English name lol ). Then suddenly I remembered this childhood incident.
When I was a kid, my mom gave me some mung beans to grind from that same kind of shop. I went there early morning . Place was PACKED. Long queue, bags everywhere.
I put my bag with the others and started doing random kid stuff… counting vehicles , looking around, doing nonsense because we didn’t have phones back then . Even some girls were there 👀
After some time, my turn came.
The uncle in the shop asked, “Where is your bag?”
…and bro…
I FORGOT THE COLOR
There were sooo many bags. I stood there trying to remember like Sherlock Holmes ,replaying my whole morning in my head.
Nothing.
Brain EMPTY.
Everyone was looking at me like “this kid has a serious issue” 😐
Then uncle asked, “What’s inside the bag?”
BRO I COULDN’T EVEN REMEMBER THAT 😭😭 not even how many bags I brought.
At this point I’m panicking internally. Didn’t want to call my mom either because I thought she would roast me alive 😅 .
Finally… no choice… I called her.
Somehow figured it out. She didn’t even scold me much… but the damage was already done.
Maximum embarrassment in front of a full crowd… AND girls my age too 😅
By the way happy new year to you all guys
